Frequently Asked Questions

About Kitaguni Horse Oil

You say it's additive-free. Does that mean there are no preservatives either?

We do not use parabens, synthetic fragrance, colorants, and the like. To maintain quality, the formula is kept to the necessary minimum, and all ingredients are listed on the product page. We add "tocopherol" (vitamin E) to prevent oxidation; it is a safe, naturally derived ingredient and is not a preservative.

What skin types is horse oil suited for?

It suits people who are concerned about dryness or who want moisturizing that blends easily into the skin. Because it is gentle, it is also chosen for sensitive skin and for moisturizing babies. If you are concerned, please do a patch test before use.

Can I use it during pregnancy?

Yes. Because it is an additive-free formula, it can be used widely from pregnancy through the postpartum period. If you are concerned, we recommend doing a patch test first.

Can I use it on my baby?

It can be used on a baby's delicate skin. When using it for the first time, please try a small amount on an inconspicuous area first.

Can I use it on my face?

Yes. You can use it all over your face, as well as on your hands, elbows, knees, heels, and the rest of your body. For areas where dryness is a concern, layering it on is also recommended.

Can I use it on intimate areas?

Yes. It can also be used by those concerned about dryness around intimate areas or mucous membranes, and it can be used on the nipples too. When using it for the first time, we recommend doing a patch test on an inconspicuous area first.

Does horse oil have a distinctive smell?

Kitaguni Horse Oil uses our own refining method, aiming for a finish where the smell is hard to notice, so it is easy to use even if you have the impression that "horse oil smells."

When is the best time to use horse oil?

We recommend using it when your skin is moist, such as after a bath. Gently work it in as if sealing in moisture, and your skin will stay hydrated more easily.

What should I look for when choosing a horse oil?

The key is to choose an additive-free formula in a size that suits your use. Kitaguni Horse Oil comes in a 60g size for generous use and a 20g size that is handy to carry. We also offer subscriptions for continued use at a better price.

It's an oil. Won't it feel sticky?

A small amount spreads a long way, so it feels less sticky. Warm about two grains of rice's worth in your palm before working it in, and it sinks smoothly into your skin. Using too much is the main cause of stickiness, so start with a little and adjust.

Should I choose 20g or 60g?

If you are new to it and want to try the scent and feel first, we recommend the 20g. We also offer the Happy Collection (7g × 3), which lets you try Pure, Mint, and Lavender in small amounts. Shipping within Japan is free when you buy two or more 20g jars, or reach ¥3,000 or more combined with other products. If you plan to keep using it, we recommend the 60g, which has a lower price per gram (eligible for the 20% subscription discount).

How long does the 60g last?

If you mainly use it for face and hand care, one person can expect it to last about 2 months. If you use it on your whole body or share it with family, it will run out sooner. You can choose delivery every 2 months or every 3 months to match your pace.

About Haishen Horse Oil

What are the black particles? Are they harmful?

The black particles are sea cucumber powder, made by processing Japanese sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus), and are not a problem for use on skin. If they bother you, please work the product thoroughly in your palm before applying.

Why does it become soft as I use it?

Because sea cucumber is blended in, this product has a lower melting point than ordinary horse oil (melting point 28°C). It may soften in warm weather or from the warmth of your hands, but this does not affect quality.

Why is the price higher?

It uses Japanese sea cucumber caught on the Sea of Japan side of Hokkaido, regarded as a premium ingredient, and is blended with proteoglycan and 45% collagen. We offer it as a higher-grade standalone product.

About Kikuimo Tea

Does Kikuimo Tea contain caffeine?

Is it also recommended for people concerned about blood sugar?

Yes. Inulin is said to help moderate the rise in blood sugar, so it is also recommended for people concerned about blood sugar or working on gut health.

How should I drink Kikuimo Tea?
